Nice roundup. It seems like strategic thinking is going to be increasingly important as AI continues to develop quickly. When we can "just do stuff" - the question increasingly becomes, "what should we do?"
The "just for fun" videos were a nice primer, I'm going to dig into this more (been intending to dive deeper into strategy and decision making models and this is a great start). Looking forward to reading more of your stuff.
Great roundup here. I like how all these folks bring their own unique spin on the message of what strategy is. It all adds up to an integrated understanding of how companies can position themselves to win.
It sure seems like the fundamental thing they all start with is the importance of not confusing strategy with actions and plans!
Thank you Joel. Glad you liked it. I think the central theme is that any action plan is not a strategy indeed. Though Rumelt would say that once you have a strategy
(Guiding policy) you need a coherent action plan to implement it. So plan is an outcome of the strategy. Roger Martin though totally disses the word plan altogether :)
Really interesting post and a fab collection of resources on strategy! I normally prefer learning through reading, but watching people talk about strategy is actually very helpful. Great job!
Awesome collection of insights and resources. Thank you so much for sharing. The Innovator’s Dilemma changed my career trajectory for the better and completely reframed my thinking about product management, development, design and development once again. Looking forward to digging into s much here!
Great resources on strategy. I just returned from a Gartner conference last week and my mind is buzzing with all of the sessions. I am going to add this to my mental catalog.
Yes, my favorite was about the Tech-Human relationship. I've been in data analytics for a decade. It addressed some of my thoughts how just cleaning the data is not enough to strategically make a mindset shift, even people who are resisting the tech.
Ah interesting. We are also at an interesting point of time with AI agents now pushing the boundaries of this relationship. It will be amazing to see how this evolves. As for cleaning data, as a former consultant I have lived that life far too many times :)
Wonderfully written and compiled! I remember reading 'The Innovator's Dilemma', so profound! I also remember how we had to read Peter Drucker every trimester at the Uni, it was part of our marketing classes.
It always amazes me how the world has transformed and there's so much to learn, it feels like the more you read, the less you know.

Thank you Ryan. I think you are spot on. I hope you enjoy the rest. In the future I will share another set of compilation :)

Such a great, well-rounded selection of foundational strategy reads & views.
Kudos for including Lenny's conversations.
There's a reason he has over a million subscribers

Thank you Jens. I think sometimes when you listen to the author emote over a video, you get to know a different perspective as well :)

I love that book as well. So simple yet so impactful. I hope you enjoy the other sources as well. Let me know your view when you come across them :)

Thank you Colette :) Any fun session topics?

I’m a big fan of Michael Porter and Roger Martin. Definitely going to read/watch the other two.
Thanks for this compilation!
Thank you Elmer. Hope you enjoy it :)

Thank you for sharing the resources.
There is no end to it :). I am glad you liked it. Druker I am sure would find mention in my next compilation :)
